Editorial Standards

Accuracy before speed

We verify names, dates, quotations, documents, images and material claims before publication. Breaking information is attributed and updated as facts develop. We do not publish a claim merely because it is viral.

Sources, evidence and attribution

• Prefer firsthand documents, on-record sources and direct evidence.
• Attribute claims clearly and link to primary material when practical.
• Use anonymous sources only when information is important, the source faces a credible risk and an editor knows the identity.
• Give subjects of serious criticism a fair opportunity to respond.

News, analysis and opinion

News reports focus on verified facts and relevant context. Analysis interprets evidence and is labeled. Opinion reflects the named author’s argument. Presenters and writers should distinguish what is known, alleged, inferred and personally argued.

Fairness, language and harm

Fairness does not require treating unsupported claims as equal to verified evidence. Headlines, translations, thumbnails and captions must represent the underlying material accurately. We avoid unnecessary identification of victims, minors and vulnerable people and consider the public interest before publishing sensitive details.

Conflicts and political independence

Staff must disclose financial, family, political or personal conflicts that could affect an assignment. Relevant conflicts are managed through reassignment, review or disclosure. Editorial decisions are not made for political parties, public officials, donors, advertisers or sponsors.

Sponsorship and commercial work

• Paid content is labeled Sponsored, Advertisement or Paid Partnership.
• Commercial partners do not approve editorial conclusions or select newsroom positions.
• Advertising claims must be supportable and may be rejected for safety, legality, accuracy or conflict with our values.
• Sponsorship revenue does not prevent critical coverage of a partner or its sector.

Corrections and updates

We correct material errors promptly and transparently. Significant corrections explain what changed; routine spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a note. Updates that add new reporting are distinguished from corrections. Requests can be submitted through our Corrections page.

Artificial intelligence

AI tools may assist transcription, translation, research organization or production, but they do not replace editorial judgment. A human is responsible for checking facts, quotations, context, translation and final publication. We do not fabricate sources, images presented as documentary evidence or quotations using AI.
